This kit allows you to avail of a urine test and doctor review of your results and symptoms using the Velieve Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) test kit and the associated smartphone application. The kit costs €35. The app can be downloaded for free and will guide you step by step on the testing process. Your test result and symptoms will be reviewed by a medical practitioner who can advise on whether you might have a urinary tract infection (UTI) which may be causing the symptoms of cystitis. If appropriate they can also provide you with a prescription for treatment. Any prescription issued will be sent to your pharmacy for supply of medication to treat the infection. Please note that there is an extra charge for treatment.

Test yourself with Velieve UTI

Velieve UTI allows you to test for a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) using your smartphone. Start by finding a well-lit space where you feel comfortable to take the urine test, and open the Velieve app which will guide you through the testing process.

Following the test, answer some questions about your symptoms and medical history and a doctor will review your results and symptoms to determine whether a UTI is likely, provide advice and if appropriate issue a prescription for treatment.

If a prescription is issued this will be sent to your pharmacy who can supply the medicine and advise you on its use. Please note that a separate charge applies for the supply of any prescription medication.

Who is Velieve UTI suitable for?

Velieve UTI is intended for generally healthy, females aged 16-64 who are not pregnant.

The service is meant to treat simple UTI only and therefore, Velieve UTI is NOT suitable for you if any of the below statements apply to you:

Experiencing UTI symptoms for more than 7 daysHad two or more UTIs in the past year (excluding this suspected UTI)Have been taking antibiotics in the past 4 weeks (including any you are currently taking)Have a weakened immune systemHave kidney issuesHave been experiencing vaginal dischargeUse a urinary catheter

To use the test you will need to have an Android or iOS powered smartphone.

UTI symptoms may include passing urine more often than usual, burning pain when passing urine, feeling the need to pass urine immediately, needing to pass urine at night, pain in your lower tummy, any of the above symptoms as well as blood in your urine*.

*Please note if you can see blood in your urine but don’t have any other symptoms of a UTI this test kit and service is not suitable for you and you should see your doctor

Velieve UTI is NOT suitable for women who are experiencing the following symptoms:

Have any visible blood in your urineExperiencing a fever, chills or raised temperatureFeel generally unwell, confused or disorientedExperiencing nausea, vomiting or pain in your musclesHave pain in your back, sides or front under your ribs
