Boots Orthotics range has been designed to relieve postural aches and pains in the back, legs or feet and correct your posture and foot alignment. This discomfort can be caused by everyday actions such as prolonged standing, excessive exercise or by having poor foot posture, especially with flat or high arch feet. Designed to fit comfortably in any shoe, each orthotic is made with anti-bacterial fabric to help control foot odour at source.

It is estimated that over half the population in the UK has at least mild over pronation of the foot.

What is over pronation? This is when the foot rolls over too much when walking or running. This is the most common factor in running injuries and knee, heel, foot, arch, shin and most commonly back pain.

The foot does not move independently but in conjunction with the knee, hip and lower back so wearing an orthotic in your shoes can provide relief from the most painful of conditions. Wearing an orthotic can also provide metatarsal and foot support and cushioning in the heel and ankle area.

Back Pain
If the foot rolls in excessively, the leg inwardly rotates which can then cause the pelvis to tilt forward. This can create an increased curve in the lower back and potentially lead to back pain.

Heel Pain
When walking, the foot flattens on the ground which leads the arch of the foot to flatten and lengthen. This may stretch and strain ligaments the support the ach and can lead to stresss and inflammation of the tissues. Heel pain is often worse after rest or first thing in the morning and if left untreated can develop into a heel spur.

Knee Pain
When the foot rolls excessively, the alignment of the kneecap can be affected.People with poor kneecap alignment often complain of pain and discomfort when walking up and down stairs.

It is recommended that you wear your orthotics in gradually. Begin wearing for one hour on the first day and then build up by one hour each day thereafter. Minor aches and pains are common during the adjustment period but will resolve within two weeks.
