Health MOT?
The Health MOT at Boots is a private service, for people aged 18 or over and might be beneficial if you want to check if your blood pressure and weight measurements are at recommended levels based on your age, gender and height11.
It is estimated that about two-thirds of people aged over 50 years in Ireland have high blood pressure or hypertension*. Hypertension is a leading cause of stroke, heart disease and heart attacks*. The only way to find out if you have it is to get your blood pressure checked. High blood pressure does not usually have any symptoms.
Keeping your body weight within recommended levels is important for maintaining your overall health. It's estimated that about 6 out of 10 people in Ireland are classified as overweight or obese.** To check if you're overweight for your height, we can check your body mass index (BMI). Having too much weight can affect the way that some organs work and increase your risk of developing long-term health problems like Type 2 Diabetes.***

What’s involved in the Health MOT?
Blood Pressure Check
A trained healthcare team member will check your blood pressure. If it's outside recommended levels, they may suggest seeing your GP or doctor
BMI Measurement
Your trained healthcare team member will take your weight and height measurements to calculate your BMI. Keeping your BMI within the recommended ranges helps prevent certain long-term health conditions

During your appointment consultation, the trained healthcare advisor will measure your blood pressure & calculate your BMI using your height & weight
Receive your results
Following your Health MOT consultation, you'll receive a letter with your personalised results & links to follow-up supports to use as needed
