With a regular toothbrush, you clean the front, back and biting surface of the tooth, and it’s easy to forget that the tooth has two more sides – between the teeth! Dental plaque can build up between your teeth where a toothbrush does not reach, so it is a good idea to use an interdental brush as part of your daily cleaning routine to prevent gum inflammation, cavities and bad breath.
So, what is interdental cleaning?
An interdental brush is a small brush specially designed to clean between your teeth, where a regular toothbrush does not reach. Daily use of an interdental brush in addition to regular toothbrushing, is an easy and efficient way to keep your gums and teeth fresh and healthy.
Available with a short or long handle and straight or angled brush head, every size is designed with its own colour, making it easy to find the right one for you!
How do I use Boots Expert TePe interdental brushes?
1. Choose the right size
2. Insert gently between teeth
3. Move the brush back and forth in each space
4. Change size and curve the neck or wire when needed
5. Change the brush when the filaments become worn
How to use interdental brushes between the front teeth
Use a straight interdental brush between the front teeth.
Insert the brush between your teeth, moving it gently – don’t force the brush into a space. If you’re struggling to insert the brush, choose a smaller size.
Once you have inserted between your teeth, move the interdental brush back and forth a few times using the full length of the brush.
How to use interdental brushes between the back teeth
If you use a pink, orange, red or blue interdental brush:
Curve the soft neck slightly as demonstrated.
Once you have inserted between your teeth, move the interdental brush back and forth a few times using the full length of the brush.
If you use a larger interdental brush:
Your access to between the back teeth can be improved by slightly curving the wire.
Interdental brushes will last longer if you don’t straighten or bend the brush at a different angle.
